Making the poor even worse off

Faced with rising heating and food bills the government is planning to make elderly people even poorer. The government no longer want to be embarrassed by the elderly who can’t afford to pay council tax so they are going to take it directly from your bank account.

Now, the elderly will have to choose from eating, keeping warm and paying their council tax. It’s not really a choice because they’ll take your money to pay for the council tax so you won’t have any money for heating or eating. If you are poor (which you probably are if you can’t pay) and you don’t have the money in the bank account will that mean that you have to go into your overdraft? Does that mean that they will have to shell out more money in fines for going over their overdraft limit making them even poorer?

During the winter when you have no money to heat your home or feed yourself because your council took your money you will know who to blame. Prison would be more humane. At least there you get food and a place to keep warm.

British motorists to pay more

British motorists pay billions a year in taxes that affect only them but they get very little for their money. British motorists pay £44 billion per year but the government won’t stump up a fraction of that to pay for £200 million per year repair bill to fix roads full of potholes even though our crumbling roads cost us nearly £3billion a year in car repairs.

Even though we already give the government tens of billions of pounds to spend the government now wants more money by making us pay a congestion charge to enter our own cities. If we want a job we will now have to pay just to get to and from work. The wealthier members of society won’t care. It will be the lower paid who lose out yet again.

The government know that people don’t like being taxed so much especially when they receive so little in return which is why they don’t want people organising opposition to sky high fuel taxes. The Daily Express tried just to put a petition on the government petitions website asking for fuel tax to be lowered but it was refused, such is the government’s hatred of any opposition.

More tax to pay for better police

A tax on every household to pay for neighbourhood policing will be proposed by ministers next month.

The 'community safety levy' will be charged by directly- elected local police boards and the cash will have to be spent on making each area's streets safer.

The Home Office claims the levy will dramatically increase accountability, but critics fear it could play on the public's need to see more bobbies on the beat and lead to large increases in taxation.

Why can’t there be more police now? Why does there have to be yet another tax to fund a service that is crap now? If the government thinks we should be taxed more they should show that they can be trusted with the money we have or it’s just going to go into a black hole and will just be wasted.

At the moment we have police that can’t even arrest wanted criminals because there is no room in the prisons to accommodate any more criminals and this is also leading to more criminals having time taken off their sentences and released early. This includes foreign prisoners who have abused our hospitality.

Gordon Brown to tax fun

Gordon Brown became embroiled in a new tax row last night as secret plans to introduce a levy on pub quizzes were revealed.

Confidential orders to council tax snoopers, obtained by The Mail on Sunday, say 'friendly' pubs with quiz nights, football teams or dartboards will be forced to pay higher business rates, which will pay for Labour's public-spending programme.

The plan, which could lead to big tax rises for bars deemed 'popular', was last night condemned by the Tories, who claimed it could lead to landlords cancelling quizzes and other social events.

What a surprise. Gordon now wants to tax FUN. He won’t be happy until he can tax everything. Gordon Brown is scum.

Lib Dems alienate half a million

The Liberal Democrats have just alienated half a million people who will probably never vote for them at the election. They announced they were going to hammer those earning over £70,000.

While coming up with this proposal they probably didn’t know that there are atleast half a million that earn more than £100,000 in the South East alone. You can bet that they won’t be the government if they are going to rely on votes from the South East.

Wouldn’t it be easier and fairer to have a flat tax? It seems to work in Central Europe. A sales tax would be even fairer.

Liberal Democrats score own goal

The Liberal Democrats opened their annual conference yesterday. They started off by deciding to tax hard working families to death. If you have a family and are planning to earn over £70,000 the Liberal Democrats are probably not the party for you.

The tax policy wasn’t the only policy where they scored an own goal. There was a gem about the EU treaty. Those wanting a referendum were branded lunatics David Laws who went on to say “Let's not have this fake argument about a treaty that frankly is now so detailed and technical no one apart from a few headbangers actually understands it."

I have to ask if our own MPs don’t understand it (unless they are headbangers) why are we allowing them to vote on it? Surely only those MPs that understand it should be allowed to vote on it?
