People Before Profits

SIX million families face higher fuel bills this autumn as Powergen which is one of Britain's biggest power companies raises prices for the FOURTH time in 18 months. This is despite them making large profits every year. Infact in late 2001 they reported profits of £375 million.

It is time that companies started putting people before profits. Not all people will be able to afford to heat their homes especially the poor but these companies only care about 1 thing and that is profits. They don't care if people will die in the cold. They just want their money.

It is obvious that these companies aren't going to put people before profits as they are far too greedy so its time to hit them were it hurts, the pocket. Our energy shouldn't be in the hands of private businesses thats why our energy and water companies should be nationalised and the government will run them for a tiny profit then energy will be cheap and we can't be blackmailed by the companies to either pay or die.
