No referendum says Brown

Gordon Brown yesterday ruled out holding a referendum on a new European constitutional treaty as part of a wide-ranging package of reforms to give "more power to Parliament and the British people".

As long as we are not getting a referendum on the EU constitution anything that Brown does with our constitution is meaningless. If he doesn’t give us one anti EU organisations must do all they can to make life difficult for Brown. I would support them calling a general strike and blocking up oil depots like they did in 2005 and bringing this country to a standstill by a “go slow” approach on the roads. Brown cannot be aloud to fob off the British people. If he won’t give us a referendum we must demand it in a way that gives him no other choice.

I have also read recently that Gordon Brown agrees with the Conservative MP Kenneth Clarke who said, and I quote, "I look forward to the day when the Westminster Parliament is just a council in Europe".
Is this really what our Prime Minster believes, I sincerely hope not but if not, why agree with someone who makes a statement like Ken Clarke's.
