Thief steals 1347 bikes, get ASBO

Britain
’s most prolific bike thief stole cycles worth £300,000 from train passengers in just six months.

But Daniel Westrop, 28, walked free from court after magistrates gave him an Asbo.

Using bolt cutters to break off cheap locks he stole 1,347 of them – mainly expensive mountain bikes.

How exactly is that an incentive to refrain from crime? He affected more than 1300 people and all he got was an ASBO. Pathetic, it shows what I have been saying – that juries should be the ones to decide sentences.

At the very least he should have been sentenced to one day for every bike he stole which would have meant that he was sentenced to 3-4 years in prison.

Anti Social Behavior Order - it stops you from doing certain things like going certain places.
