Prisoners get free personal trainers

While law abiding people like you and me have to pay for our very own personal instructors it seems that overweight prisoners are being given them free.

The scheme costs £400,000 and is meant to help those prisoners that are being bullied. Well BOO HOO! If they don’t like being bullied the fatties shouldn’t commit crime. Prisons are meant to punish not act like a free spa for the scum of the earth.

Think I'll have to become a prisoner - a terrorist one - to get the best treatment.

It would be a lot cheaper just to have them break rocks, as in the old days.

impossible is nothing said...

hey...a prisoner cant just b called scum of the earth..
were they actually scum...y not just eliminate them frm the face of the planet...
i guess the prisn is the place to mayb provide them some rehabilitation..
i do not argue with whether they shud get free trainers or not..my point is we cant just call them "scum of the earth" as the author has said..
i object to it..

They are in prison exactly because they are the scum of the earth.

What, everyone held in prison?

youdontknowme said...

The majority of people are. We don't put people in prison for donating to charity.

People on remand? The mentally ill?

Thats why I said the majority and not all.

Only when prodded. Twice. How do you explain the lack of qualification in your comment #4?

It was irrelevant.

I think it is good training for their future careers and will help them stay out of prison.

If they are fit they will be able to run away from someone chasing them therefore they won't go back into the nick.

Let's hope the trainers concentrate on running and not boxing or Karate.

thats a unique idea to keep the prison numbers down.

What do you mean, it was irrelevant? In comment #3, IIN was clearly objecting to you labelling all prisoners "scum of the earth". Instead of accepting there may be some exceptions, instead of talking mealy-mouthed about "the majority", you simply re-iterated the point.

youdontknowme said...

yes I did because the number of scum in prison is irrelevant.

IIN never asked whether I thought they all were scum. All he said was a prisoner cant just b called scum of the earth. He never questioned me and he never talked about semantics.

It is absurd. The only "rights" a prisoner should have are a cell, clothes, and food. They are there as PUNISHMENT and that is exactly what they should receive. If they don't like the conditions they shouldn't commit the crimes. I just wrote a post about how new criminals will escape justice due to overcrowding. The position is intensfied by the new law coming in that gives prisoners the right to refuse to share a cell with a smoker. I do not see why innocent people should have to deal with these criminal set free because Joe thug doesn't like to breathe smoke. I have no sympathy at all. Does this extend to murderers? I'm sure they didn't ask their victims if they wished to die or about any of their preferences.

Why is it that prisoners are treated better by the government and enjoy greater protection of their rights in many cases than law abiding productive members of society.
