MPs try to hide their expenses again

MPs expenses have finally been revealed after a legal battle lasting years.

The claims show that our leaders have been taking us for mugs. Some expenses are probably genuine and I feel that they should have claimed them, however most MPs are taking the mick.

Why did Gordon Brown claim for everything from a £372 subscription to SkyTV and £4,471 to smarten up his kitchen? That is a very expensive kitchen but it’s nothing compared to what Tony Blair spent on his kitchen (£10,600).

If Gordon Brown wanted to have SkyTV and to smarten up his kitchen he should have paid for it out of his own money and not take from the taxpayer.

Now that the public know what is going on MPs are trying to think of new ways to cheat and con us out of money. One way they are considering is giving themselves a grant of £23,000 per year, no questions asked which means no receipts which means we won’t have a clue what they are spending the money on which is just the way they like it. The thing is not all MPs spend their full allowance of £23,000 but with this new system they will be given it anyway which will cost a lot more.

Should MPs be taking the taxpayer for a ride when the lower paid are struggling to cope with record food prices which have made the average food bill rise £700 in the past year. Come on MPs. Show a bit of compassion.

How convenient: MPs lose expenses claims

On Friday I blogged that the government had lost their battle to stop their expenses claims being made public.

It seems that some MPs actually won the battle after they decided to destroy all evidence of what they had claimed. This includes the dishonourable Tony Blair who should have been shot long ago.

We’ve always known that these parasites where only MPs so they could get their noses in the trough but this is a new low. They must have had something big to hide and the public should know what it was because it is public money and not their money to spend on what they don’t need.

Victory for open government

The Commons Speaker, Michael Martin, today lost a high court battle to prevent the disclosure of the details of second-home expenses claimed by 14 prominent MPs.

Today's ruling, given by Sir Igor Judge, the president of the Queen's bench division, Lord Justice Latham and Mr Justice Blake, will increase pressure on Martin, who has been criticised for his decision to block the publication of the information.

The Commons authorities challenged the Information Tribunal's demand that a detailed breakdown of MPs' additional costs allowances (ACAs) had to be provided under the Freedom of Information Act.

This is a victory for open government. MPs should not have a choice in the matter. Their expenses are paid for by us so we have a right to know. If they want to pay for things without taxpayers’ money they can do so privately.

This was tried in Scotland a few years ago and expenses were reduced decreased. The MPs don’t want it to happen here because it will mean less money for them.

SNP worse than Labour?

I never thought that there could be a worse government than Labour but apparently there is. It is the SNP. They haven’t been the Scottish government for long but they are already doing their best to fleece the tax payer and only give attention to the rich.

Alex Salmond of the SNP threw a dinner party for his Scottish friends at Scottish taxpayers’ expense. The four course meal cost £60 a head and it was used to reward their most generous benefactors. I guess if Scotland had their own House of Lords there wouldn’t have been a dinner and tax payers wouldn’t have to fork out so much so that Alex Salmond could follow a lavish lifestyle.

If you want to complain about this to Alex Salmond it’s best to have a lot of money seeing as you can’t have an audience with him unless you stump up £10,000 in cash. If you don’t have that much then you can lobby the other ministers who are charging a much cheaper rate.

Alex Salmond has only been in power for a few months and he is already being as bad as Labour. After a few years of this will the Scottish people but up with him anymore? It’s hard to say seeing as the opposition is either Labour or the Lib Dems. Either way you are going to take it up the arse if you are a Scot.

Blair still screwing us

Tony Blair is in the news again and we are about to pay for him. Oh goody. He is scared of people taking their revenge out on him for ruining this country so we have to pay £80k so that we can bomb proof his home. I am sure anyone determined enough to try and kill Blair wouldn’t be put off. They don’t need to use bombs either.

If Blair wants to be safe he should pay for the upgrades himself. He has already screwed the country enough and he has enough money. If he doesn’t have enough money I think that it might be time to sell his home and buy somewhere more affordable. Is that too much to ask?

The Olympics are a disaster

We were lied to. I think you all know that we are lied to constantly so you probably want to know what I am talking about. I am talking about the Olympics. Tessa Jowell told us that the bill would be just over £2 billion but she knew it would be billions more but she didn’t want us to know.

Is it any wonder it has increased so much when we are paying people £400 per hour to attend planning meetings who are already rich and famous? Why exactly are we giving Princess Anne so much to sit on her arse and listen to what is being said?

Is it any wonder that the costs are spiralling out of control? If we had a competent government we could probably get the Olympics for far less than we are getting them and it would probably be within budget.

Peter Mandelson is a traitor

Peter Mandelson, Britain's commissioner in Brussels, has dismissed calls for a referendum on the new EU treaty.

He insisted that it did not amount to a "radical reform" of the relationship between the UK and Europe.

In a rare display of unity with his old enemy Gordon Brown - and amid signs that EU leaders are joining forces to prevent the British people being given a say - the former Cabinet minister said many of those arguing for a referendum really wanted to pull out of the EU.

Of course we can’t have people deciding what happens to their own country. I mean our political masters have everything sorted and if we did have a vote and if we did vote to leave Mr Mandelson might lose his job on the gravy train because we wouldn’t need a commissioner.

Is it any wonder that these people are lying about the effect of the treaty? These traitors rely on the EU for their pay packet. If he truly wanted to put Britain’s best interests first would he really support giving so much power to the EU which is an even more centralised government than the one we already have? Our own government should have far less power but that power should not go to the EU. It should be with the people and not Parliament.

We should tell the EU where to go. We do not want them having any power over us and we certainly don’t want Brussels sending over their riot police to police this country.
