Paddling pool banned again

For nearly a quarter of a century, Lourdes Maxwell has celebrated the arrival of summer by putting a paddling pool in the garden.

This year, however, her two grandchildren and the children of her neighbours may have to find another way to cool off in the heat.

Miss Maxwell's local council has decided that the pool - which is only 2ft deep - needs a lifeguard.

The 47-year-old divorced mother of three has also been told she must have insurance before she can inflate the toy outside her house in Portsmouth.

This is just ridiculous. It’s a paddling pool for gods sake! Why can’t councils just let adults take responsibility for their children? Of course this is not the first time this has happened. I blogged about this happening to Katie Joyce almost 3 years ago.

Nothing has changed. Health and safety bureaucrats only do this because they can’t get real jobs and it doesn’t look like national or local government will take action to stop it because they have had 3 years to stop it.

Would you pay £25,000 for this?

Taxpayers in Derbyshire are angry that their council spent £25,000 on a stone slab with a square hole through it.

The sculpture, by Michael Dan Archer, was commissioned by North East Derbyshire district council for the entrance to its headquarters in Saltergate, Chesterfield.

More here.

The government were told this was happening

Last March I blogged that failed asylum seekers were being paid £3500 to leave Britain. I also said that some were coming back after getting the money and trying to claim even more.

At the last count 400 failed asylum seekers had come back and most were allowed to stay in this country, presumably without giving the money back.

It’s now been more than a year since the media highlighted what was happening but it seems the government still has not done anything about it. Well they haven’t with criminals anyway.

Hakim Benmakhlouf is an Algerian immigrant and also a thief. He was paid £3000 to leave the country. If I was in charge he wouldn’t have been given a choice or the money but the government in their wisdom decided to give him the money and the next day he was back in Britain committing crime again and he is now taking up valuable space in our prisons and we still won’t see a penny of that £3000 that we gave him.

Terrorist to live life of luxury

TAXPAYERS face a £1MILLION bill to keep terror cleric Abu Qatada in a life of luxury when he is released from prison.

Evil Qatada — Osama Bin Laden’s right-hand man in Europe — will enjoy a FREE house and THOUSANDS of pounds in benefits.

And the public will have to fork out a fortune on police and security services to guard him round the clock.

Qatada, 44, is wanted by Jordan on suspicion of plotting terror atrocities, but was granted bail by the Special Immigration Appeals Commission earlier this month.

Why should taxpayers have to pay for this terrorist? He is not wanted here but he is wanted in Jordan so deport him. When he is there it is not our problem what they want to do with him.

The people who work on Immigration Appeals Commission should be deported too. They have no common sense and at the very least they are traitors to this country who put the safety and human rights of law abiding citizens last.

Plane hijacker given job at airport

What do you get when you hijack a plane and hold the passengers hostage for 4 days and threatening to kill them?

Well if you do it in this country and your name is Nazamuddin Mohammid, you get to live in this country and receive £150,000 per year including living in West London rent-free at a private house. Even if you assault your landlord you will not be deported, you won’t even be sent to prison but you will still be allowed computers, video recorders and hi-fi systems and you will also be sent on a computer course free of charge!

After all that you will then be given a job in an airport!

When mugging isn't a crime

A mother who had her bag snatched was told by police it was not a crime - because she chased after the thief and won her property back.

Sam McAlister was queueing in a coffee shop with her ten-month-old son when a woman grabbed the bag from the back of the pushchair as an accomplice distracted her.

Miss McAlister, 34, left her child with staff at the Starbucks cafe, whom she knew well, and set off in pursuit of the woman.

She confronted the thief in a nearby shop and was eventually reunited with her bag after a struggle.

But when she went to a police station to report the crime, she was told by an officer behind the desk that it was not a crime because she had got the bag back.

If she had called the police about the incident they would have said they were too busy and she would never have got her handbag back and the thief would be free anyway. Just what are the police for? Theft is theft. It doesn’t matter if she got the bag back.

The police can be worse than useless sometimes. She would have been better off beating the thief up then making a run for it.

Wasting police time

Many decades ago the police and our government used to have a bit of common sense. Unfortunately that has disappeared. The police are either taking very little notice of real crime or are behind a desk dealing with mountains of paperwork.

The police waste 56 million hours a year on paper work. If this red tape was cut maybe our police could actually do a real job and arrest the real criminals. Something tells me with the mentality they have now that they would probably waste their time telling shop owners not to sell sandwiches to children.

The police could also waste their time making signs telling people not to commit crime. Quite why anyone would not know this remains a mystery. The government puts up daft signs too. If a bunker is supposed to be a secret it may not be the best idea to have a sign saying ‘Secret Nuclear Bunker’ which points to the secret nuclear bunker. Maybe it’s not supposed to be a secret and that’s just the name of the bunker?

Thieves take police bikes

BURGLARS climbed an eight-foot wall into a Cleveland Police compound - and made off with four expensive mountain bikes.

The raiders struck at the recently opened South Bank police office, used by the Grangetown and South Bank neighbourhood policing teams.

They scaled the wall during the early hours of the morning, when the office was shut.

Police later discovered the bikes were missing from the “secure” compound - and have admitted they were not chained up.

It doesn’t look too good for the new police station does it? The thing that irritates me is that you never actually see police on bikes around here so they don’t need bikes. Maybe they are going to start riding bikes instead of driving cars?

Council spend £80k teaching children to play

A COUNCIL which
closed four playgrounds is to spend £80,000 on teaching youngsters how to PLAY.

A part-time “play ranger” will teach games to kids and give workshops for parents.

They will give a list of “quality play opportunities” to schools.

The three-year post at Lib Dem-run Eastbourne Borough Council in East Sussex is to be funded by a £205,000 Big Lottery Fund grant.

Lib Dem Councillor Margaret Bannister said: “Children don’t always know how to play. It is money well spent.”

It follows a decision to close four playgrounds after complaints about anti-social behaviour.

Instead of closing the parks why didn’t they just focus catching the yobs that were destroying the fun for the other children? These councillors are totally out of touch with the real world. Children will always know how to play but if you destroy places where they can play they won’t be able to.

Instead of closing down parks more should be opened and more should be done to catch the yobs who destroy the parks. It’s common sense but then again you can never accuse a liberal of having any common sense.

No smoking signs for under cover police

You might think that the smoking ban is barmy and if you do it’s about to go into a whole new level of barmyness. Police will now have to put up no smoking signs in their vehicles. The rule also includes police cars with undercover police inside.

This will of course compromise undercover police work Labour isn’t going to let a little thing like crime fighting get in the way of the nanny state. They would rather let thousands of criminals escape than allow the police to light up a cigarette.

I wonder if organisations like MI5 have to do the same thing. Wouldn’t it be strange if they had to do it while following Islamic fundos that wanted to blow up a few things?

Police committing crime

You know crime is out of control when even police are encouraged to get in on the action. In Worcester, if you don’t lock up your bike up the police have been told that they can take it without telling you. This is effectively stealing and who are you going to phone if someone has stolen your bike? If the police can break the law why can’t we?

It’s also legal for the police to hit you with their car and then fine you for denting the police car. How nice of them. Maybe it’s now ok for you to punch them in the face and get them arrested for assault when your knuckles come back slightly bruised.

I don’t know how the police have the cheek to do this sort of thing to law abiding people but things need to change and the police have got to stop thinking they are our superiors.

Prison officers strike, paedos get money

What the hell is going on in our prisons? We all know about the strike of the prison officers. While the government didn’t have enough money to give the prison officers their pay rise they decided to give £2 to every paedophile and rapist for their good behaviour during the prison strike. I don’t want any of these perverts getting any money. I don’t care if it is only £2. They shouldn’t get anything.

Is it any wonder that the prison officers go on strike when they are attacked in prisons by terrorists and then those terrorists aren’t even held to account for their actions by being imprisoned longer because it isn’t in the public interest? Since when is it not in the public interest to jail terrorists for longer?

Our prison system has become a joke. No wonder the prison officers want to go on strike. They deserve more money for putting up with all the crap from the government.

MI5 need more women

It seems that terrorism isn’t the biggest problem that keeps MI5 operatives awake at night. There is a far bigger problem. There is a shortage of women in MI5 that they are trying to reverse or it could be the end of Britain as we know it.

Who’d of thought that they couldn’t attract women especially when they get generous job benefits which are even better than what the men receive.

Women who have been in MI5 for at least a year are entitled to six months maternity leave on full pay. As well as a further six months - half on statutory maternity pay, half on additional unpaid maternity leave - women in MI5 can have another year on unpaid special leave, making two years in total. Fathers get two weeks paternity leave on full pay.

With all that I would have thought that they would have had a shortage of men seeing as they are obviously being discriminated again. Why exactly do women get two years off while men get two weeks? Well that’s put me right off joining…

Government to abduct child over future abuse

A pregnant woman has been told that her baby will be taken from her at birth because she is deemed capable of "emotional abuse", even though psychiatrists treating her say there is no evidence to suggest that she will harm her child in any way.

Social services' recommendation that the baby should be taken from Fran Lyon, a 22-year-old charity worker who has five A-levels and a degree in neuroscience, was based in part on a letter from a paediatrician she has never met.

Hexham children's services, part of Northumberland County Council, said the decision had been made because Miss Lyon was likely to suffer from Munchausen's Syndrome by proxy, a condition unproven by science in which a mother will make up an illness in her child, or harm it, to draw attention to herself.

Under the plan, a doctor will hand the newborn to a social worker, provided there are no medical complications. Social services' request for an emergency protection order - these are usually granted - will be heard in secret in the family court at Hexham magistrates on the same day.

From then on, anyone discussing the case, including Miss Lyon, will be deemed to be in contempt of the court.

What has this country come to when the government can legally abduct a child and then be allowed to silence any opposition to it? What the hell has happened?

They say she is deemed capable of emotional abuse but isn’t every capable of emotional abuse? What exactly is the criteria for emotional abuse? Couldn't she make a human rights case like the murderer of the head teacher did? Surely she is also entitled to a right a family life?

NHS sends organs on coaches

SKINT NHS bosses are using National Express coaches to
transport organs for transplants.

And The Sun can reveal it meant an EYE went missing on its way to hospital.

It was sent in a box on a coach and disappeared on the way to Northampton General.

Hospitals should use private ambulances to carry the organs. But many have axed the contracts to save money.

Delivery firm TNT was due to collect the eye — for a cornea transplant — from Northampton bus station where it had been taken by coach.

But the National Express office, where sensitive parcels were held, was shut.

The eye was finally tracked down and used in an op the next day.

Labour can’t seem to do anything right. Sooner or later an organ will go missing and someone will die. It’s about time Labour actually did their work properly and gave the NHS more money and kept out of the decision making.

Stop everything! Racial crime committed!

You would think that with all the gang violence and gang shootings going on the police would have something important to focus on. Apparently that isn’t the case. Tugging on a head scarf in now a crime. It’s not just a crime but a possibly racially motivated crime which caused the police to appeal for witnesses because it is that serious.

One of the men was aged 20 to 25, 5ft 10in and of medium build. He had rough skin on his face and was wearing a grey T-shirt and dark trousers. The other was 5ft 6in, stocky with short fair hair.

If you know the suspects you should drop everything and tell the police. It is that serious.

Guard takes on yob and is sacked and arrested

What happens when you are a security guard who stops a yob from terrorising train passengers? If the experience of Paul Yarwood is anything to go by you will be sacked from your job, forced to sell your home because you can no longer afford the mortgage and be arrested and sent to court for threatening behaviour while the yob gets £80 for smoking in a public place.

Am I the only one that thinks that this is extremely stupid? It seems I am not the only one because his union is defending him and has already staged two local strikes which have been unsuccessful.

Could health and safety bureaucrats get real jobs?

Why can’t health and safety bureaucrats get real jobs? Health and safety is probably the only job sector where you can get money for making decision which are stupid or taking actions which aren’t needed. If it wasn’t for health and safety we wouldn’t have people employed to check the safety of 20,000 gravestones.

It’s not all fun and games in health and safety. Sometimes they have to make tough decisions like what kind of shorts people can wear while swimming. For your information long shorts are not safe. I am so glad I was told about that. I will never swim in long shorts just in case I drown in a very horrible manner entangled in baggy shorts.

Police try to be cool for kids

We all know that they are changing education to make it ‘more relevant to today’s youth’. It seems that they are trying to do the same with law and order. We can thank Labour for our new community support officers. It seems that they are trying to be trendy because they have started employing those that have only just left school. I am sure that drunken teenagers are going to take a lot of notice of them.

These teenagers are too young for this stuff. They should be hanging around with mates and maybe skateboarding like these police officers are being paid to do so that they can look cool in front of their peers… uh… I mean in front of the children so the children will be nice and not do anything criminal like because they think the police are more relevant to them and cool at the same time.

Criminal dies, victim to be charged

I blogged yesterday that a man was arrested after a burglar fell out of a window after a fight with the person who was living there. I now have some good news and bad news.

The good news is that the burglar won’t be doing it again because he is dead. The bad news is that the owner could be facing a murder charge for defending his home and making the country a little bit better.

As far as I am concerned the killing was justified. If you don’t want to get hurt or be killed you shouldn’t be in homes where you don’t belong. The people in the homes should have every right to beat the shit out of anyone in their home illegally. If the criminals die it is unlucky for them.
