29,000 criminals released early

It looks like the government have underestimated the amount of criminals that will benefit from early release. They estimated that 25,500 criminals would be freed in 12 months but that total was breached in April's figures, just 10 months into operation. They have actually freed more than 29,000 including 2 terrorists and someone who went on to rape.

The policy is not going to be reviewed until September 2009 and by that time 70,000 prisoners could be released to commit more crime. If you are ever a victim of a crime committed by someone that should have been in prison you know who to blame.

Police having a bad time

It’s not a good time for the police. They are starting to suffer from higher prices just like everyone else. The police are being forced to cut front line jobs to save on the cost of fuel. I would make the police ride bikes but it seems that they have to be trained and pass their cycling proficiency test before they are allowed to even ride a bike.

The police are also facing the possibility of having the price of handcuffs rise when their biggest supplier goes out of business within the next few weeks.

State intervention is the problem

Children as young as 5 will be identified as
being at risk of becoming criminals or troublemakers under government plans to tackle offending and disorder on the streets.

Jacqui Smith, the Home Secretary, called for a huge expansion of state intervention in family life as a way of preventing young people from problem families drifting into antisocial behaviour and crime.

The last thing we need is state intervention in family life. That is what caused children to lack discipline in the first place. Let parents smack their children. That is the only way that parents will be able to control their children. There is no other way.

Diplomats commit crimes and get immunity

It seems that foreign governments are taking the mick out of this country. They commit crimes and for the most part are getting away with it.

Diplomats to this country have claimed immunity for everything including bribery and sexual assault and other crimes which would result in 12 months in prison while Venezuela is allowing drug barons to export their stuff into this country.

Anti-drugs officials estimate that more than 50 per cent of all the cocaine consumed in Britain has been trafficked through Venezuela - under the "revolutionary" regime of Mr Chavez. The figure could be as high as two thirds.

Senior commanders in Venezuela's security forces are thought to be profiting from the trade and actively helping the smugglers, notably by allowing them to use military airfields.

If I as living in Venezuela I would be wondering why Chavez’s incompetence has resulted in drug related arrests plummeting from over 11,000 to just over 1000 arrests. I didn’t think this was possible but they seem to be worse than Labour, possibly even worse than the SNP. That is an achievement…

Prisoners to be rewareded for going on the run

Prisoners who go on the run could have the time cut from their sentence,
internal Government papers revealed last night.

Convicts will be able to count both the day they absconded and the day they were caught as time spent behind bars.

This is the most stupid idea I have ever heard. It is basically rewarding criminals for getting away with their crimes. It will just encourage more criminals to go on the run as all they will have to do is complete the rest of their sentence. It’s madness.

Anonymous witnesses to be allowed

The government has vowed to change the law to allow
anonymous witnesses in some court cases after a key Law Lords ruling effectively halted the practice.

Justice Secretary Jack Straw said there was a real need for some witnesses to have their identities protected.

Mr Straw told BBC Radio 4's Today programme that the law will be changed "as quickly as possible".

The ruling quashed the murder conviction of a man who was convicted with the aid of anonymous evidence.

While I sympathise with the government and the anonymous witnesses I think the law lords have made the right decision. Defendants should have the right to face their accuser as this is part of the process of a fair trial.

What the government should be doing is investing in witness protection programmes that will keep witnesses safe so that they do go ahead and tell their side of the story during a trial.

Young rapists get community sentences

THOUSANDS of young thugs convicted of sex offences and violence get off with community sentences, shock figures reveal.

Less than half are locked up, despite the seriousness of their crimes.
The revelations will fuel fears teenage louts get off lightly.

A total of 860 young offenders were sentenced for sex attacks in 2006, but 474 – 55 per cent – were given community sentences.

A further 15,016 under18s were found guilty of violent offences, but 8,372, or 56 per cent, got off with a community sentence.

When will the government actually start being tough on crime? These people should be in prison. It doesn’t matter if they are young. Community punishments are still just a slap on the wrist.

There are far too many children that are let off to easily and we are supposed to believe that thousands of children are needlessly criminalised. If anything there aren’t enough children that are criminalised. They should be punished harshly.

Immigrants and crime

There is something seriously wrong with how we treat immigrant criminals. A prison to deal with foreign criminals released prisoners without proper preparation because it wrongly assumed they would be deported. If I was the prison governor I would have assumed the exact same thing.

They should have automatically been deported the first time they stepped foot outside prison but idiots in government don’t seem to think that way. Idiot judges are something else to watch out for because while they are idiots they make decisions which are dangerous. Judge Julian Hall ruled that an illegal immigrant who abused a young girl for three years was not dangerous and should be free to stay in the UK after going to prison for more than 5 years.

Why is this idiot allowed to be a judge? He is doing more harm than good. He should be removed as a judge immediately and Nurul Islam should be automatically deported when released.

Gordon Brown acts tough on crime

Gordon Brown is trying to act tough again but the reality shows that he is anything but tough on crime. A few days ago it was reported that immigrants are responsible for a lot of the knife crime.

The government have decided to make it so that those who carry knives face tough sentences than crappy sentences they do at the moment. Anyone over the age of 16 who is caught with a knife will face automatic prosecution and risk a jail sentence of up to four years. The key word here is ‘risk’. Criminals already risk 4 years in prison but they normally get less than 4 months so nothing will change especially if these people are immigrants.

Immigrants won’t receive any real punishment just like at present. 1400 of them have already been released early and have been allowed to stay in prison. Immigration officials were told that they shouldn’t even attempt and deport anyone who hasn’t been sentenced to more than a year because it’s too difficult to deport them as it is especially if they are from an EU country.

If these foreign criminals are released early they then get £170 compensation for loss of bed and board in jail. All this makes a mockery of what Gordon Brown promises. You can’t trust the competence of this government. Even Britain's most dangerous inmate, Charles Bronson has said that prisons are cushy compared to what they were.

Thousands won't leave prison

A few days ago I blogged that the government are planning to release tens of thousands of criminals from prisons to help with prison overcrowding.

It now seems that the government were planning to release thousands more but those criminals like it so much in prison that they chose to stay because real life is apparently tough compared to prison.

The prisons in this country are so overcrowded that wife beaters are going to avoid prison because there is no room for them. Infact the government has shelved an entire new law to help battered wives because they would be unable to enforce it without prison.

Prisoners that do choose the option of early release frequently go back to crime because they see no incentive not to. An example would be Anthony Thompson who raped an expectant mother only 1 day after being released. The woman can thank the Labour government for their incompetent management of the prison system that has lead to criminals being released just to go back to their criminal ways.

What are parents supposed to do?

Parents who fail to stop their teenage children binge-drinking or ‘persistently possessing’ alcohol in town centres and streets face heavy fines, community service orders and even jail.

A new Government crackdown will target the parents of drunken, abusive youngsters who repeatedly defy attempts to stop them creating disorder in public places.

Under plans to be unveiled by a trio of Cabinet Ministers, the Government will pledge to create a new offence for under-18s of ‘persistently possessing alcohol in public areas’ and give police new powers to disperse them.

What are parents supposed to do exactly? The government has criminalised them from doing anything meaningful to their children. Children learn from an early age what type of discipline they can expect to receive from their parents and grounding isn’t going to do much.

Does the government seriously think an out of control teenager who regularly drinks and has fights is going to obey their parents because they get grounded? Tell them they are grounded and they will laugh in their parents faces and leave the house. The only thing that would stop them would be discipline from an early age and not the grounding type of discipline. I mean the smacking kind where the child knows that if he goes too far he can expect physical pain. Only then will they obey their parents.

Labour should enforce knife laws

Knife crime is getting worse and yet the government is unwilling to do anything about it other than make laws which they probably won’t enforce. The Tories have hit upon a good idea on how to deal with knife crime – the answer is to enforce the laws we have. I don’t think the government have ever thought about that before.

The government do need to make one law or close the loophole in another law that means that yobs can take knives to court and actually get them given back when they leave because the knives are flick knives. This is of course utter stupidity which is why it should never be allowed to happen.

Knife crime is bad. It is so bad in London that knife violence in London is now running as high as gun warfare in some US cities and one third of trauma patients in the city have been stabbed.

The government is unwilling to take knife crime seriously enough with knife criminals normally receiving less than 4 months in prison for their crimes. Unless the government starts taking knife crimes seriously it is only going to get much worse than it is.

Crime pays for immigrant fraudster

An immigrant fraudster who conned British taypayers out of more than a million pounds has been ordered to pay back just a tiny fraction of his criminal earnings.

Pakistani-born Nawaz Sharif, of Wexham Road, Slough, ‘milked his adopted country’ and lived a life of luxury with multiple homes in England and a large mansion in his native country, a court heard.

A judge branded him ‘exceedingly dishonest’ and ruled that he had benefited from his crimes to the tune of £1.1m.

But after a two-and-a-half day hearing in which Sharif denied owning a portfolio of properties and luxury cars – and accused the prosecution of ‘double counting’ his money – the judge conceded that his realisable assets were only £116,341.08.

Sharif, who was jailed for five years in 2006 and is due to be released today (Friday), has been given six months to pay the amount or be sent to prison for two years.

He was jailed for 5 years but he has only served two. How is that justice when the taxpayer is only getting a fraction of the money back?

Of course this isn’t the first time that foreigners have got off easily. In September last year African asylum seekers conned the country out of hundreds of thousands of pounds and bought a hotel back in their home country. When they get released they will have a hotel built for them in their home country.

In this country criminals can get away with anything because crime pays in Britain.

Is Superintendent Andy Tresias an idiot?

Nearly 45 per cent of
hate crimes are solved by Northamptonshire Police – 20 per cent higher than the national average.

But new figures show a slight increase in racist and homophobic crimes over the last three years. Almost half of the race hate crimes were reported by white Europeans.

Overall, 43 per cent of hate crimes were cleared up by police. In the last three years, homophobic incidents have increased from 47 in 2005/06 to 65 between April 2007 and March this year. Racist crimes increased from 465 in 2006/07 to 476 in 2007/08.

Superintendent Andy Tresias said: "The figures show that many of the victims were white Europeans but I don't think they are any more vulnerable than any other groups.

You don’t think white Europeans are any more vulnerable? Are you an idiot or does the non white population make up half the population of Northamptonshire? I would generally like to know.

If the non white population makes up about 10% (which I think is average for UK) it means that they are far more likely to be criminals and that white people are much more vulnerable.

More tax to pay for better police

A tax on every household to pay for neighbourhood policing will be proposed by ministers next month.

The 'community safety levy' will be charged by directly- elected local police boards and the cash will have to be spent on making each area's streets safer.

The Home Office claims the levy will dramatically increase accountability, but critics fear it could play on the public's need to see more bobbies on the beat and lead to large increases in taxation.

Why can’t there be more police now? Why does there have to be yet another tax to fund a service that is crap now? If the government thinks we should be taxed more they should show that they can be trusted with the money we have or it’s just going to go into a black hole and will just be wasted.

At the moment we have police that can’t even arrest wanted criminals because there is no room in the prisons to accommodate any more criminals and this is also leading to more criminals having time taken off their sentences and released early. This includes foreign prisoners who have abused our hospitality.

Voting Labour costs lives

More than 2,500 people have been stabbed to death on Labour's watch, according to figures soon to be published by the Home Office.

Yet, over the same period, only nine of the countless criminals caught with knives have been given the maximum jail term.

Take 2006, a year scarred by a series of teenage stabbings, and the latest for which full sentencing statistics are available. Some 1,226 under-18s were found guilty of carrying a blade yet only 72 were put behind bars.

The average sentence was 3.4 months, which because of early-release rules, meant that a typical offender spent just eight weeks in jail.

The remainder escaped with a fine, a community sentence or - in 113 cases - a discharge. Only one of the 7,817 knife offenders of all ages received the maximum sentence in 2006.

As you can see voting Labour costs lives. Labour no longer even try to enforce the law or punish criminals. Those that do get sent to prison are released early and thse that terrorise communities get ASBO’s. If they disobey their ASBO nothing will happen to them.

Labour said they were tough on crime and tough on the causes of crime. The truth is they couldn’t be softer on crime if they tried.

Crime is so bad in London that there is an average of 8 violent crimes in London per day and that’s just on the buses!

In Scotland it is so bad that you are more likely to go to prison for shoplifting than for sexual assault. The prison officers who have to guard these criminals have realised that crime pays which is why the government now estimates that 10% of prison officers are corrupt and the government are now setting up a unit to death with corruption in the prison service.

Criminal justice twilight zone

Welcome to the criminal twilight zone where bad people don’t go to jail for their crimes and good people get fined.

If you have a balloon don’t accidentally drop it and let it fly off into the distance or you will be fined £50 by petty bureaucrats who have nothing better to do.

Yes you read that correctly, a Max Twizell 16 year old boy could be faced with having criminal record all because he dropped balloon and allowed it to fly off in the distance while Christopher Smith will not serve any prison time for the crime he committed thanks to a legal loophole.

Christopher Smith (20) led police on a 30-minute chase in the early hours of March 8 this year - at one point, driving over a speed bump at 60mph and hitting it with such force that the car flipped over, Grimsby Crown Court heard.

He also drove the wrong way down one-way streets, over mini-roundabouts and at one point was travelling at 70mph in an area with a 30mph speed limit.

Don’t you just love our legal system which allows a 16 year old to be harassed while a repeat offender doesn’t even get a fine?

Prison as a last resort

Our justice system is a bad joke. The CPS has failed to update a third of its files resulting in court cases being dropped even if a prosecution could have happened.

When it comes to ASBOs they are shown to be useless. People with ASBOs are given them because they terrorise the community but they are being increasingly shown to be a badge of honour for young scum and now only as a last resort will these yobs ever be sent to prison for breaking their ASBO and even then the maximum sentence they will receive will be two years.

What has this country come to when people who terrorise the community are left to get away with it when the government won’t do anything?

The government were told this was happening

Last March I blogged that failed asylum seekers were being paid £3500 to leave Britain. I also said that some were coming back after getting the money and trying to claim even more.

At the last count 400 failed asylum seekers had come back and most were allowed to stay in this country, presumably without giving the money back.

It’s now been more than a year since the media highlighted what was happening but it seems the government still has not done anything about it. Well they haven’t with criminals anyway.

Hakim Benmakhlouf is an Algerian immigrant and also a thief. He was paid £3000 to leave the country. If I was in charge he wouldn’t have been given a choice or the money but the government in their wisdom decided to give him the money and the next day he was back in Britain committing crime again and he is now taking up valuable space in our prisons and we still won’t see a penny of that £3000 that we gave him.

A new record for immigration

IMMIGRANTS are being handed British passports at a rate of one every three minutes.

More than 164,000 were granted citizenship last year – a new record, and more than four times the number in the year Labour came to power.

Almost 1.2million foreigners have been told they can stay permanently since 1997, and now it is easier than ever to become British.

Is it any wonder that this country is falling apart? Schools in some parts of the country are forking out thousands just to pay for interpreters for children who do not speak English. Some police forces also have to spend money paying for interpreters to investigate crime by immigrants. It could mean that police are spending £76,300 a day on interpreters in one part of the country.
