The beginning of the end

It is the beginning of the end for the European Union. Nations are finally realising what a disaster the European project has been.

In Hungary they are rioting against their government for lying to them and showing complete contempt for the Hungarian people and democracy by publicly admitting that he had “lied, morning, noon and night” about the tax increases and public spending cuts that he had promised Señor Almunia before a recent election — and after the election was over, he naturally felt that his promises to Brussels were far more important than the ones he had made to Hungarian voters.

The resulting budget cuts of 7 per cent of GDP over two years would be roughly equivalent in Britain to closing down the entire NHS. And Hungary, remember, is being forced to do this to comply with the Maastricht treaty, without even being admitted to the eurozone.

In Italy their credit rating has been reduced to that of Botswana and the government is in a crisis. The Italian government is also on the brink of collapse because of Signor Prodi’s insistence on implementing tax increases and budget cuts demanded by Joaquín Almunia, the EU Economic Commissioner, under the terms of the Maastricht Treaty.

In Britain there has been a flood of Eastern Europeans taking jobs that Brits won’t be treated like slaves to do. This has resulted in unemployment that has not been this bad for years.

History will judge the European project as the worst blunder in the past century, surpassing the invasion of the Suez in the 1950s and the invasion of Iraq.

The EU will eventually be held together by force. It is a brittle kingdom, 'iron and clay.'

But I don't envisage it lasting another decade.

lets hope it won't.

Another display of eloquence from the 'holier than thou' left...can you string together more than four (yes, that's 4) words?

I doubt it.

Let's analyze your comment.

"Neo", meaning "new"...there's nothing new about opposition to facism, and that's what the BNP do: oppose (left-wing facism).

"Nazi"...the Nazi's were socialists, there isn't a socialist bone in my body.

"Scum"...people who comment on blogs under the the guise of 'anonymous'.

BNP?

Freedom from "Neo Marxist mind-control SCUM".

No wonder you have a problem!

The BNP were once nazi under the leadership of Tyndall. I can't see how they are nazi now.
