Our government hates the country that they are supposed to govern and protect. Unfortunately our governments have been betraying us for decades but now the betrayal is becoming ever more apparent and is being sped up. Gordon Brown won’t be giving us a referendum. This has been apparent for some time but it has never been more apparent than now. Gordon Brown appointed Lord Malloch Brown as minister for the UN. This traitor wants us to give our UN Security Council seat to the EU.

This is proof that the aim of the EU is for a one European nation. Why else would they want a single foreign policy and other policies which are the same all over Europe?

Writing to your MP is not going to work. Peacefully protesting is not going to work. We will not get a referendum unless Gordon Brown is given no other choice. The only way we will get one is if all the unions hold a general strike, there are go slows on the road and there are oil depot blockades that last longer than the fuel protests. Only when we have brought Gordon Brown to his knees will he give us a referendum.

If Gordon Brown still refuses us to give us our democratic right to choose the way for this country then democracy has been vanquished and our only option we have might be to treat him like we treated King Charles in the English civil war.

Being white is bad says government

The government enjoys discriminating against white people, especially the English. In September 2006 the police admitted that they are always discriminating against white recruits and in March the government sacked their staff in Leicester and moved somewhere else because the workforce was too white in Leicester.

In June Red Ken decided that whites could not serve on the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority. They weren’t black enough you see.

Today it has been revealed that even the environment agency are at it after an English girl was barred from a government job for being the wrong colour and for being English even though the job was in England.

In late June I broke my personal posting record and blogged more than I did in the other years. I announced that when I hit 438 posts this year I will have posted more this year than I did with the first two years combined. It’s not even a full two months later but this post is my 438th so I have achieved the goal of posting more this year than I did in the first two years combined.

Gordon Brown inconsistent on drugs policy

Gordon Brown seems to be a bit inconsistent lately when it comes to drug policy. Last month it was announced that he was considering whether to reclassify cannabis to a class B drug. You would think if this happened that a lot of people might want to go rehab so they don’t break the law but Gordon Brown doesn’t think so. He decided to cut the drug rehab budget by £50 million.

Those that go to prison who have a drug habit will be glad to know that the prisons are having a budget cut too so the prison have decided to scrap cell checks to search for weapons and drugs. Prison officers have said that this could create no go areas for the prison officers because the amount of drugs and weapons in circulation inside would soar. The service is also considering cutting back on the use of voluntary and mandatory drug-testing so you will b able to take drugs without anyone stopping you, especially not even the prison officers who don’t have to enter your cell if you smoke it..

Post office workers blackmailed and bribed

Post Office bosses turned to blackmail and spying to make sub-postmasters co-operate with their closure programme.

Postmasters were told exactly how to answer questions from worried customers - and warned that undercover PO staff would check that they complied.

They were also told they could lose compensation payments of up to £60,000 if they failed to parrot the official line. Tories reacted with outrage, saying postmasters were being forced to act as Government spin-doctors.

Ministers and Post Office chiefs say 2,500 rural branches must close in the next 18 months because customers are deserting them for the Internet and phone banking.

As well as blackmailing postmasters they have also decided to bribe the rest of the staff into shutting up by threatening them with losing a £1000 lump sum payment if they do not get involved in or support opposition to the changes.

Examples of protest include "asking customers to sign a petition or handing out leaflets during working hours, or taking part in strike action… any individual colleague who supports or is involved in activities that oppose our plans, during working hours, will not qualify for the payment".

It is not just postmasters and their workers which are being blackmailed and bribed. The head of the Royal Mail is to get a bonus of £1 million for carrying out the closures on top of his £250,000 salary.

HIPs will result in tax windfall for government

You may be wondering why the government likes Home Information Packs so much. The answer is that they can tax you more of course. Why else would Labour like it so much?

£70 million in VAT will be collected in the first year of the scheme. After they have been completed the packs will be used to raise your council tax raising even more money. If you want you can opt not to get one and take a fine which is actually less than the price of the pack and you will be saving on your council tax.

Government offering amnesty

Hundreds of thousands of failed asylum seekers may be allowed to settle permanently in Britain under a "back-door amnesty" scheme.

The Government is striving to clear a backlog of 450,000 "legacy" cases of immigrants who were turned down for refugee status but were never expelled.

A 1,000-strong Home Office team has been set up to work through the list, giving priority to individuals and families who may now qualify for UK residency rights because such a long time has passed since their initial rejection.

Without publicity, the first 6,000 families on the list were sent questionnaires last month asking about their current circumstances. Insiders close to the scheme said those who gave the "right" answers would be granted "leave to remain".

Asylum seekers who cannot be traced are expected to be simply struck off the "legacy" list, giving the impression that officials have made progress in tackling the backlog. They would no longer be sought actively for removal, even though they would remain illegal immigrants - liable for deportation if ever caught.

Our government have to learn that the British people do not want an amnesty. All illegal and failed asylum seekers must be sent back. It is irrelevant how long this takes but it has to be done. They shouldn’t be able to just break the law and get away with it. They should be forcibly deported if they are unwilling to go.

Afghan victory 'could take 38 years'

British troops could remain in Afghanistan for more than the 38 years it took them to pull out of Northern Ireland. That is the bleak assessment by Army commanders on the ground in Helmand province.

In an interview with The Observer at HQ in the provincial capital Lashkar Gah, Brigadier John Lorimer, commander of UK forces in Helmand, said: 'If you look at the insurgency then it could take maybe 10 years. Counter-narcotics, it's 30 years. If you're looking at governance and so on, it looks a little longer. If you look at other counter-insurgency operations over the last 100 years then it has taken time.'

Why can’t we just leave now? Afghanistan has nothing to do with us and is taking its toll on soldiers and the country as a whole. 1 in 5 soldiers are already under stress. This is only going to increase with staying there longer which will completely destroy our fighting capabilities. We are also paying £31 a second for the Iraq war yet none are showing us any benefits. Isn’t it about time we left rather than spending billions more and destroying our army?

33,000 rubbish fines and now smaller bins

The number of householders fined for breaking draconian rules on rubbish has risen nearly 15-fold in five years, the Daily Mail can reveal.

This boom in on-the-spot fines has accompanied the creeping introduction of fortnightly waste collections.

In 2000-2001, there were fewer than 2,250 fines for littering.

Five years later, more than 33,000 people were penalised for offences including having bin lids open, putting out rubbish too early and leaving sacks of "side waste" alongside their wheelie bins.

While this is happening Labour has decided to reduce the size of your bin just over half the size of the one you have now which will mean there will be even more bin lids left open and side waste because they won’t be able to fit the rubbish in. Fines will also increase and the money Labour gets will increase too. It looks like the government have got tired of having a war against motorists and are now focusing on families.

Bar owner finds smoking ban loophole

A flamboyant businessman is openly flouting the smoking ban and claims that he has found a loophole to avoid getting caught.

Dave West, who owns the Abracadabra restaurant and Hey Jo, a private member's bar, in London, said that if necessary his doorstaff would warn him if police or councillors enter the building.

"It's a very hard thing to prove," said Mr West. "The doormen will ask everyone who enters if they are a policeman or a council officer, which they have to declare, and they will then radio down to us.

"Our customers will then put their cigarettes in the ashtrays and even if they had lit cigarettes in front of them, how can you prove they have been physically smoking them?"

I like this. What people do on private property is none of the government’s business. I see one problem with the plan and that the police will do everything they can to get their man. If they see that there are cigarettes in the ashtrays in the club they can arrest everyone in the vicinity of the ashtray and take their DNA and match it to the cigarettes. Don’t think they won’t do it either because if they are willing to take your DNA for minor crimes then they are willing to do it for this. The government wants no opposition and they will do everything they can to crush it.

Tagged high risk criminals re-offend

More than half of offenders being monitored in an experimental satellite-tracking programme have been returned to jail or had their tagging orders revoked because of breaches.

And around a quarter of them committed fresh crimes while being tracked, including one who was jailed for life and two others who received indeterminate sentences for "very serious offences", research for the Ministry of Justice has found.

Some 336 people in Greater Manchester, Hampshire and the West Midlands took part in trials of the new technology between 2004 and 2006 - most of them prolific offenders, including many convicted of sexual and violent crimes.

The pilots were targeted at offenders deemed to be "high risk", with records of repeat convictions. A majority of those tracked had been released on licence after serving time in prison, though some had been given community penalties for less serious crimes.

Why are high risk offenders being let out of prison when the government knows there is a high possibility that they are going to re-offend? The safety of the law abiding public should be the priority when dealing with criminals.

Children failing because of bad teaching

Hundreds of teachers who barely passed their degrees are taking crucial school subjects, figures show.

Staff with the worst qualifications are most likely to teach traditional disciplines such as maths, science and modern languages.

Just 41.6 per cent of trainee maths teachers achieved a first or 2.1 in their university degrees, 43 per cent of language trainees and 48 per cent science.

This is obviously having a negative effect on the education of British children. This is shown by the fact that a fifth of primary school children are unable read, write or add up properly.

If we want an educated population we should be trying to get the best teachers for British children and not people that have almost failed at the very subjects that they are going to teach.

2000 Gurkhas could be allowed to stay

A Gurkha, who is prepared to fight and die for Britain, should have the right to settle in the UK, an immigration tribunal has heard.

David Enright, representing 44 former Gurkhas, said visa officials should take into account war wounds, medals and their allegiance to the Crown.

This test case could help decide whether 2,000 Gurkhas in the British army can stay in the country.

It’s about time too. As far as I am concerned the only foreigners that are deserving enough to be allowed to live in Britain are those Gurkhas that are willing to fight and die for this country. Instead of allowing them in though we allow anyone else to come to this country even if they are criminals or have no value whatsoever to this country and all they do is undercut the wages of people in this country.

Eastern Europeans cause 15% of fatal road accidents

Immigrants from Eastern Europe are responsible for nearly 15 per cent of fatal crashes on rural roads, it has been revealed.

Concerns are so great over the massive rise in accidents that young Polish men will now be classified as one of the three most-at-risk groups on the road in Yorkshire - and local authorities across the UK could follow their example.

The figures have been released by North Yorkshire Council, after officers became increasingly concerned with anecdotal evidence suggesting immigrants were putting lives at risk.

John Fort, executive member for community safety, said: "We've noticed there's becoming quite a serious problem with immigrant drivers from Eastern Europe.

"The majority of Eastern Europeans involved are 16 to 24-year-olds, who tend to be production workers and speak little English. These are people who need cars to get from A to B on our rural road network, where there are not many buses.

"They tend to pile a lot of people into one car, drive too fast, go round roundabouts the wrong way and often indulge in drink-driving.

"As a group, there is a distinct lack of common sense and we as a county council have decided that we will make a real effort to get to the bottom of the problem."

They’re going to get to the problem of the distinct lack of common sense of Eastern Europeans? Isn’t that supposed to be racist? This is yet another reason why we should stop all immigration now. Large scale immigration causes nothing but problems and there are no benefits except for the rich who get cheap labour.

At the start of the month the number of terrorist suspects stood at 1700 but later in the month that figured had more than doubled to 4000 terror suspects. We also found out that 24% of them are asylum seekers. Maybe these new asylum seekers are actually old asylum seekers that were paid to go home, buy some bomb materials and then come back?

Don’t worry. If there ever is a terrorist attack you can rest assured that Muslims won’t be mentioned even if it is them. It wasn’t our decision. You can blame the EU for it.

The EU was finally doing something right. They gave us porn which wasn’t very long but it’s the thought that counts. They weren’t going to butter us up that easy. We still want a referendum even though Gordon Brown has said we aren’t getting one. Maybe those 40 Labour MPs and the unions will persuade him to give us a referendum. We really need to get out especially seeing as how our opt outs are worthless.

Animal testing reached a 15 year high. This might be because the EU wanted tens of millions of animals to suffer in experiments. On the plus side if the Conservatives win the election they will offer us a referendum. Will the animals be saved then?

Gordon Brown said that he was going to reduce the regulatory burden by 25%. The thing is he can’t without permission from the EU. One example of this was when a pleasure boat was banned from going between two towns which are close to each other. He also lied when he said that he wanted to deport 4000 criminals. The thing is he can’t because of the Human Rights Act.

Immigration was once again in the news when we found that 200,000 homes were given to immigrants. Not a great idea when we have a housing shortage. Maybe the housing is why most Poles plan to stay? Don’t worry though. Gordon Brown is going to concrete over the countryside to build 3 million new homes.

Immigration was also rising in rural areas and so was crime. Eastern European Immigrants were found to be the biggest threat to our fish. Atleast Gordon Brown was thinking of creating a single force to protect UK borders even if they would be useless. Maybe we should start by deporting the foreign criminals but that would be hard seeing as they can’t find 787 of them.

The government like to treat criminals well so it doesn’t come as much as a surprise to learn that there were calls for an amnesty for illegal immigrants.

Now, let’s focus on crime. We found that ASBOs were being given for moderately serious offenses like stealing 1347 bikes, being a one man crime spree and causing 85% of the crime in one area. If there wasn’t a national shortage of judges the criminals might actually be given real punishment.

Crime is so widespread that there are even gangsters in Blair’s street. It’s a pity he’s now an envoy.

Even when people were sent to prison they were being released early even if they were violent offenders so it came as no surprise that within weeks of being released some had already committed crimes and were back in prison. If you are a prisoner and you haven’t been released yet don’t despair. You can sue.

There seems to be a lot of sexual abuse being carried out on young white girls by Asian men. The police have at last decided to investigate. They might eventually end up in an open prison but give the police cookies for trying.

The smoking ban was already being disobeyed by MPs who were smoking in Parliament toilets and on trains. These types of people like breaking the law so it wasn’t a big surprise to learn that Labour and Lib Dem party activists had a punch up in Sedgefield. Politicians aren’t the only ones breaking the law. 1 in 15 senior police are being investigated for corruption or other law breaking.

Terrorists must love our ways. We can’t execute or deport them because of the Human Rights Act. This must be why Alqaeda members are joining the police. Bin Laden may also get a visa and the burned bomber is being kept alive so the other Muslims don’t get angry.

In the spirit of anti racism a police force cancelled a TV appeal because it was thought that it might increase racism. While the police weren’t telling the public much needed information, BBC staff were going to be sent on courses so they could learn how to tell the truth. They need to be sent on courses to learn that buying babies is bad too.

Above all the insanity was the House of Lords who seemed to be the only ones that are actually sane. They fought for the corporate manslaughter bill to include state institutions. This erupted in a game of political tennis which the lords ended up winning. Brown doesn’t like opposition which is why he is considering getting rid of the lords that oppose him.

With the education system being destroyed and the life chances of children being washed down the drain it’s nice to know that children are being given lessons is feelings. They should be happy. They could pass that class with 30% of the marks. How difficult are feelings? This could be a way of hitting their targets on time and not 5 years late.

Atleast the government have their education priorities in order. It doesn’t matter if they are getting their students good grades. It’s more important to mix with diverse schools. If they don’t they will fail and be closed down. Maybe their priority should be getting more male role models into the classroom and stop dumbing down education?

The taxman wants to take money directly out of your bank account if they feel you aren’t paying enough tax. There is a problem with this though. They have made tax errors that have hit 1 million people. Labour also wants to take all your money out of your bank account if you haven’t touched it for 15 years. The money will be spent on children.

Don’t despair about tax. Once you pay for the privilege or having home information packs forced upon you it will be used to make you pay more council tax. You will also have to payout when a relationship ends even if you aren’t married.

The government were again shown to be wasting our money. NHS chiefs won a taxpayer funded holiday to Japan while public bodies were wasting millions selling off old IT equipment at the wrong time.

The government could be forced to pay paedophiles compensation as unlimited detention is unlawful even though there are far too many to monitor. This is at the same time that we find that funding cuts are risking UK waterways.

A local NHS trust is refusing to give an OAP a hearing aid until she reaches 110 years old while NHS 24 has been putting patients at risk by downgrading the nursing qualifications needed to answer calls and decide on treatment. There is going to be a lot of cancelled operations because of either a shortage of junior doctors or because of a shortage of trauma beds. Atleast our resident Gurkha can get NHS treatment now.

Parliament weren’t the only ones acting like idiots and fleecing people for everything. In some cases, councils were giving out sandbags with no sand and another council was selling their sandbags to protect homes from the flood. Don’t worry the people who were responsible for protecting us from the floods were given their raises.

A local council was being heartless after they allowed a 103 year old to be evicted from a nursing home. A different local council was sued after a secondary school pupil was swinging on a gate of a primary school when it collapsed. He was given £5700. Another council said that a Buddhist businessman couldn’t call his restaurant Fat Buddha because it might be offensive to Buddhists.

We live in a tyranny especially when it comes to local government. A Swansea councillor found this out when he was suspended for having an opinion. A bin man was also threatened with dismissal for wearing a cross of St George bandana.

The government love to take your money but maybe it’s time to stop fleecing the motorist now cars have been shown to be environmentally friendly? They should be focusing on foreign lorry drivers which don’t pay fines.

Nearly half of the RAF aircraft have been deemed to be unsafe so it was surprising when they told us that they have improved the time taken to fix aircraft and saved the Ministry of Defence money.

We don’t treat our soldiers well. An SAS commander was relieved of his duties for getting medals and leading men into battle. The government also decided to send 100 more troops to Afghanistan despite the fact that Britain has only got 500 troops left. It’s just a shame that our clerks for the MoD get more than soldiers for their injuries It’s enough to drive you crazy… well the Iraq war is and it has caused mental problems to double in troops. If only we had enough medics and psychiatrists.

Mental problems double among Iraq troops

The number of troops suffering psychiatric disorders including post-traumatic stress, mood swings, and drink and drug problems appears to have doubled in the past year.

The scale of mental health problems suffered by troops in Iraq and Afghanistan is revealed in an official study by the Defence Analytical Services Agency.

It says that every month more than 150 members of the Armed Forces who have served in Iraq are being diagnosed with mental health problems.

They don’t actually say the number of suffering from mental problems but in March I blogged that there were more than 2000 troops with mental problems and we only have 13 psychiatrists for the whole of our armed services. No doubt the numbers are much higher than 2000 now.

National shortage of judges

There is a national shortage of judges causing delays in criminal trials. I have already blogged elsewhere about how I would increase judges making justice faster.

The way I see it judges are just referees. They give out the punishments for criminals which have been found guilty. I would change it and make it so that the jury are the ones giving out the sentence too. Of course they wouldn’t give out the exact sentence. They would give a tariff. For arguments sake let’s say that there are 10 tariffs. These would be:

1. Fine
2. Non custodial (asbo, community service etc)
3. 0-6 months prison
4. 6 month – 2 years
5. 2-5 years
6. 5-10 years
7. 10-20 years
8. 25-40
9. Life in prison
10. Death

Those are just examples. It could be organised any way. Once a tariff has been chosen by the jury the judge then decides the exact sentence (between the tariff). Judges would lose their power and would be basically administrators or they would be referees even more than they are now. This would allow less qualified people to become judges and allow the government to lower wages to say around £13000 to £30,000 for ones with experience. This would lower court costs and allow us to double the number of judges that are needed making access to justice faster. The qualifications could mean that those who passed law at A Level could become judges.

Some of our present judges would still be needed for complicated trials like serious fraud and murder but we would split the court system into three – magistrates’ court, middle court, high court.

The magistrates’ court would still deal with petty crime where criminals would normally get 2 years or less in prison while the middle court would deal with everything except the serious crimes.

We would need a lot less of the type of judges we have now. According to this link there are 1305 professional judges (page 12) and magistrates in England and Wales. Unfortunately I don’t know how accurate it is but I will go by this number. I know that professional judges get paid £120,000 per year which means the total if we sacked them all we would save over £156 million. If we were to pay the new judges £13,000 per year and increased the number of them to 3,000 it would cost us £39 million which would be around 25% of the cost that we are paying now however once they have experience (about 20 years) that would rise to £30,000 however it is doubtful that they will be all on that much at the same time but let’s estimate that they are. It would still cost just £90 million compared to the £156 million.

We wouldn’t get rid of all the judges at first because at first the judges might need a bit of supervision. Let’s say we keep 150 of them on paying them £120,000. It would cost us an extra £18 million on top of the £39 million I estimate. This would still be a lot cheaper and we would have faster access to justice.

Asylum seekers paid to go home then come back

HUNDREDS of failed asylum-seekers who were paid to leave Britain have sneaked back—with many now demanding the handout AGAIN.

Almost 400 of the 5,000 refugees booted out last year with business grants of up to £3,500 in their pockets are known to have returned.

Two-thirds have now been told they can STAY. But the rest want a SECOND handout at British taxpayers' expense.

We were told this was happening in March but nothing has been done. At that time there were about 300 that came back. The government could have done something about that other 100 when they were informed by the newspapers but they haven’t done anything.

The Ministry of Defence came under attack after it was revealed a computer clerk with the RAF who suffered a hand injury while typing in numbers was paid almost THIRTY times what a soldier injured in combat might get for the same injury.

The mystery woman, who is in her 20s, cost the MoD £484,000 in damages and legal costs after she was diagnosed with the RSI-style condition de Quervain's tenosynovitis.

Yet a serving soldier who comes home from war suffering from "permanent severely impaired grip in both hands" will only get a one-off payment of £16,500.

Amazingly the official tariff of payments to our boys show they can expect just £28,750 for blindness in one eye, £57,500 for the loss of a leg and just £8,250 for injuries associated with surviving a gunshot wound to the torso.

The MoD calculates injury payments to soldiers on a 15-point sliding scale.

A level 1 injury which can be loss of both legs and arms qualifies for a £285,000 payment while a level 15 injury such as a hernia or a fractured kneecap would qualify for just £1,050.

Just a thought but why didn’t the MoD use the same 15 point scale for their other employees? Wouldn’t it be easier to give out about £1,000 instead of £484,000? I don’t believe she should have received anything. I think it’s a betrayal to the real injured soldiers but if she is going to receive something the scale should be the same for all MoD employees.

1 in 15 senior police under investigation

Almost one in 15 senior police officers in England and Wales is being investigated over criminal or disciplinary offences, The Observer can reveal. The Police Superintendents' Association (PSA) said that 100 of its members are under investigation for claims ranging from high-level corruption to harassment.

In some inquiries as many as five superintendents are being investigated by other police officers over criminal or disciplinary matters. By comparison, less than 1 per cent of the population is under investigation at any one time by the police.

And we wonder why crime is going up. It seems that if you are a senior police officer you are more likely to be in trouble with the law. I wonder how many of these senior police are Muslims seeing as how Muslim police are ten times more corrupt than white officers.

787 foreign criminals still on the run

More than three-quarters of the convicts involved in the foreign prisoner scandal are still at large in Britain, official figures reveal.

The group - who include sex attackers and violent thugs - should have been automatically considered for deportation on release from prison.

Instead, they were allowed to walk free after a series of Home Office blunders.

Figures released to MPs reveal that just 226 of the 1,013 criminals mistakenly freed in the scandal have been removed from the country.

This isn’t really surprising. When John Reid was Home Secretary he said he would move heaven and earth to find them but in September 2006 the story had died down a bit and suddenly the hunt had been disbanded and was no longer a ‘priority’. The fact is they haven’t been trying to locate these criminals. They have just allowed them out onto an unsuspecting public.

Heartless bastards evict 103 year old

A woman of 103 has been served with an eviction notice by nursing home bosses because she cannot afford to pay an extra £100 a week for her room.

Esme Collins, who requires round-the-clock nursing, will be removed from her home of the last ten years unless she meets their demands within 28 days.

Mrs Collins, a great-great-grandmother who retired when she was 75 only to become a volunteer for meals-on-wheels, moved into privately-run Abbeymoor nursing home in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, due to illness.

She suffers from severe osteoporosis and is bed-ridden. Yet officials at the county council claim her needs do not meet the criteria set down for financial support.

Both the council and the care home are heartless bastards. The council should be giving more money to pay for the resident however what kind of heartless monster would evict an elderly lady who is more than 100 years old?

Nick Griffin wins

Nick Griffin has won the leadership election for the BNP. He won with a giant landslide of 91% of the vote. While I did think Nick would win I am surprised that Chris Jackson only received 9% of the vote. I thought he would win 20%, possibly as high as 25%.

Labour to tax the poor (2?)

Unclaimed money from abandoned bank accounts will fund government plans to provide positive activities for teenagers and reduce youth crime.

The funding - £184m of new money - will be supplemented with money taken from so-called "dormant" bank accounts, which have not been used for 15 years or more.

They are recycling news again. I blogged about this in March and there is still trouble with it which might mean that it affects the poor more but it seems that I am the only one to notice.

Remember those baby bonds worth £250 that every baby will get which they can take out when they reach the age of 18? It seems from birth to adulthood is more than 15 years to me… This means that Brown will be taxing money that he has given you. Who will have left these baby bonds dormant for the longest periods? It will be the poorer families who can’t afford to add extra money to their child’s bank account while the richer members of society will be able to.

Prison service answer FOI request

The Prison Service has finally answered my request about digital TV and game consoles in Holme House Prison after more than 8 months waiting.

They said they purchased a number of games consoles for £500 which are placed the Drug Rehabilitation block to help addicts recover. Apparently playing computer games stops you from being addicted to drugs.

At the time of my request the prison paid a subscription to Sky, which cost £3384 annually. The reason was that they were evaluating options for providing digital TV to cells when analogue reception is discontinued. Why do we have to provide them with anything?

Labour MPs want referendum

A group of Labour MPs has begun pushing for a referendum on the new European Union Treaty in the first serious revolt against Gordon Brown's leadership.

Up to 40 are considering backing a backbench campaign for a national vote - directly opposing official government policy - with the aim of killing off the treaty for good.

With the Tories and some Liberal Democrats also backing a referendum, the pressure on Mr Brown to give the British people a say is mounting.

Atleast we know that some Labour MPs aren’t complete traitors. Unfortunately Labour have a majority of more than 60 which means even if Brown allowed Parliament to vote on it we would have to hope that a lot of Labour MPs decided not to show up which is probably not going to happen.

Single force to protect UK borders already useless?

Britain's first unified border force is to be set up by the Government, Prime Minister Gordon Brown said today.

Officers from the Border and Immigration Agency, Revenue and Customs and UKVisas will be brought together, creating a single checkpoint for travellers at ports and airports.

It doesn’t really matter what he does. The border police were effectively neutralised in February when the immigration detention centres became full to capacity which meant that they had to stop picking up illegal immigrants.

Maybe Mr Brown’s real concern should be building more immigration detention centres so his changes would actually matter? I guess that’s not going to happen anytime soon though.

Brown lies again

Yesterday I caught Gordon Brown lying about his drive to cut business regulation. The fact is he can’t do it because the EU won’t let him. Today he is lying again. He has pledged to kick out 4000 foreign prisoners but he can’t do this. This is because of the Human Rights Act. It was only a few weeks ago that we found that we can’t kick out convicted terrorists because of the Human Rights Act. How is it going to be different for these 4000 criminals? The fact is they can only leave when they want to. We cannot make them leave.

Brown lies to businessmen (2?)

A drive to cut the regulatory burden on business and reform the risk-averse culture of government departments will be launched by the UK government on Wednesday.

Gordon Brown is determined to make action on red tape a higher government priority, in a bid to outflank the opposition Conservatives on a core business issue.

The prime minister has told the new Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform to cut regulation across government, and inculcate a new approach to risk in public policy.

John Hutton, business secretary, will on Wednesday outline to MPs a wide-ranging plan for implementing assorted ministerial pledges, including a 25 per cent cut in the administrative burden imposed by government departments.

Errmmm… Mr Brown, didn’t you say you were going to do this in October? Infact you said almost the exact same thing but as I said last time you won’t be able to succeed without leaving the EU seeing as how most of our regulation comes from the EU.

With your past record I seriously doubt you will leave the EU. Maybe you and the Labour party should be given lessons in telling the truth just like the employees of the BBC?

More than 16,000 BBC employees are going on a course to teach them that they should not lie and lying is bad. Unfortunately normal people were taught this when they were children.

It’s about time to. They have shown that they can’t be trusted time and time again. When they aren’t lying they are hiding the truth. It’s about time they learnt how to tell the truth.

European royalty look as if they are crazy. We all know Prince Charles likes to talk to his plants and vegetables and now it is revealed that a Norwegian Princess likes to talk to angels and is trying to make money out of it by teaching other to do so. You can learn how to talk to angels too for a small sum of £2000…

I wonder which other members of royalty are crazy people.

Experiments on animals soar to 3 million

ANIMAL testing in Britain has reached a 15-year high and is set to go on rising, the government said yesterday.

The growing use of genetically-modified mice in scientific research last year pushed the total number of animals used in laboratory testing to more than three million for the first time since 1991.

I wonder if this is the fault of the EU. In October 2006 I blogged that because of new EU rules tens of millions of animals were facing painful deaths because the EU wanted to retest chemicals, some of which had been on the market for more than 25 years.

I think that animal testing is needed but I don’t think it is needed on this scale. 3 million per year would be a genocide if it was humans being killed.

Fat Buddha is not an option says council

A Buddhist businessman who wants to call his Chinese restaurant Fat Buddha has angered council chiefs - who claim the name will upset Buddhists.

Eddie Fung's £1.3million restaurant will open in Durham next month, creating 60 jobs.

But the restaurateur was astonished when Tracey Ingle, the city council's head of cultural services, demanded he change the name because it was 'provocative'.

Mr Fung, you can’t go around calling Buddha fat. You might offend Buddhists you don’t know and then they might not want to come to Durham anymore which would be tragic. Why don’t you call your restaurant Big Boned Buddha. It would be acceptable and it wouldn’t imply that he is slightly on the obese side. Just a suggestion.

Council bans St George bandana

A black dustman has been banned from wearing a St George's Cross bandana because council officials say it could be regarded as racist.

Matthew Carter, 35, who was born in Barbados, used the headgear to keep his dreadlocks out of the way while he was on his rounds in Burnley, Lancs. He had done so for seven months before his photograph appeared in a local newspaper. A number of local people complained, and his superiors called him.

"I received a verbal warning," Mr Carter said yesterday. "They told me the St George's Cross was not allowed to be seen on any clothing we wear because it could be considered offensive and racist."

Ian McInery, the operational services manager for Pendle council, defended the decision to discipline Mr Carter. He said: "We have made it clear to staff that they are not allowed to put stickers or flags on bin wagons or wear clothing which shows support for a particular team, group or country.

"We can't make one rule for one person and one for another. It's just a common-sense approach that we are sticking to."

Mr Carter still wears a bandana but one that bears the image of a skull and crossbones.

Since when has banning the cross of St George been about common sense? Which self loathing idiots complained to the council?

What are you doing Mr Carter? You can’t wear a skull and crossbones bandana. It’s un-neighbourly. Take it off immediately!

These people are overpaid and under worked. The lot of them should be sacked until they get a bit of common sense.
