Police caught lying in FoI request

Your Right To Know is a website that campaigns for stronger freedom of information laws and has just discovered that the police lied to them when they made a request. You can read what happened here.

Basically Heather (owner of the site) asked about the pilotless drones that were used to record what happened at the V Festival. The police said that the Surveillance Commissioner was spoken to so that they could see if it was legal however Heather used freedom of information to ask the commissioner what happened and his office said he was never contacted. The police were then told that their lie had been found out and then the next day (it was about 2 hours in office hours) they came clean and called it a misunderstanding. You can read the rest here.
