HIPs will result in tax windfall for government

You may be wondering why the government likes Home Information Packs so much. The answer is that they can tax you more of course. Why else would Labour like it so much?

£70 million in VAT will be collected in the first year of the scheme. After they have been completed the packs will be used to raise your council tax raising even more money. If you want you can opt not to get one and take a fine which is actually less than the price of the pack and you will be saving on your council tax.

Wow 70mil just think what the government will do with all that revenue, actually that's naff all in the grand scheme and certainly not enough to make a foray about.

There is absolutely no evidence to suggest any link between packs & council tax what so ever.

"A spokesman for the Department for Communities and Local Government said: "This is total codswallop. Time and again we have made clear the VOA will not have access to this register. We have even set it out in the law so there could be no doubt."

The fine is not just a one off fine its £200 a time so please go ahead dont get a pack take the fine instead, but I think once you've had 4 or 5 fines, which by the way the government will take, it may have been better to get the pack in the first place.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing!!!!!
