Conservative ups and downs
It’s been a rollercoaster ride for the conservatives these last few weeks. They have had some good ideas and they have also had their MEPs shown as corrupt and fleecing the taxpayer for everything they can.
They have finally had a good idea concerning education. They want to allow private companies to run schools in the way that Sweden does. The Swedish education system works so it is a fantastic policy which I have liked for a long time. It’s about time we adopted it in this country.
Unfortunately for the Conservatives they have been exposed as cheats swindling the taxpayer. More than half of their MEPs have refused to comply with rules requiring them to reveal how they spend our money. These people should not have a choice in the matter. They are supposed to work for our interests. We are the ones who pay them. We need transparency to stop sleazy politicians taking us for mugs.

I wonder if this will get the same sort of reception that the government's idea of allowing private companies to run hospitals got? The problem for both ideas is that the state employees within those industries will not allow it to happen without a fight.
This may in principle be a good policy.
I can't help thinking that a return to the pre-comprehensive systems would be simpler.
New schemes are only needed because the existing ones were either allowed to fall into decay or were replaced with something less efficient - implying a 'Common Purpose' agenda.
Which is why a BNP Government is needed to put our own house in order.
Re: the NHS, another problem is looming with a gov't initiative to dismantle existing GP practice and replace it with private enterprise clinics staffed by overseas medics on short-term contracts.
Lord Darzi (Stasi) is responsible.
More 'hollowing out' of once-Great Britain.
We should be wary that the same thing doesn't happen to the school system. It is chaotic in parts of the country but that is down to immigration, gov't incompetence and family breakdown. It doesn't have to be that way.
